Terms of Use

1. Who we are and what this covers

My Legacy Journals is operated by DebbieIgnites Innovations Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16552663, whose registered office is at 19 Vernon Avenue, Old Basford, Nottingham, NG6 0AQ. These terms apply to the mobile app, this website, and any related services. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the service only with a parent or guardian's involvement.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us at support@mylegacyjournals.app if you believe it has been compromised.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you write, record and upload. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and transmit your content for the sole purpose of operating the service for you — including transcribing your voice notes and delivering journals to the recipients you nominate. This licence exists so we can run the service; it ends when you delete the content or your account, except where a legacy release has already been carried out. We do not use your content to train machine-learning models, and we do not read it except where you ask us to for support or where the law requires it.

5. Subscriptions and payment

My Legacy Journals offers a free tier and a paid subscription (DIY), available as a monthly or an annual plan. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm, and are set by the store you purchase through. We may introduce further plans; where we do, their price and terms will be published before they become available to buy.

• Purchases made inside the app are billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us.
• Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period, at the then-current price, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by the store you purchased through, under its policy. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases.
• We may change prices. A change takes effect at your next renewal, and where the law requires it we will tell you in advance and give you the chance to cancel.
• If you cancel, you keep paid features until the end of the period you have paid for. Afterwards your account returns to the free tier, and free-tier limits apply again.

6. Legacy release

The service lets you arrange for your journals to be delivered to people you nominate, after your death or after a period of inactivity you set.

• You are responsible for what you set up: for the accuracy of the contact details you enter, for choosing validators who will act, and for keeping it all current. We cannot deliver to a wrong or dead email address.
• You must have the right to give us other people's details. By nominating a recipient or validator you confirm you may lawfully share their contact details with us for this purpose.
• This is not a will and does not create legal rights over your estate. It is a delivery mechanism for the content you attach. If you want legally binding directions, speak to a solicitor.
• We do not guarantee delivery. We will make reasonable efforts to carry out your instructions, but release depends on things outside our control — validators acting, contact details still working, and the service still operating. Do not rely on it as the only copy of anything that matters.
• If the service closes, we will make reasonable efforts to give you notice and a way to export your content before pending arrangements lapse.
• Release is irreversible. Once journals are sent, we cannot recall them.

7. Acceptable use

No unlawful content; no content that infringes others' rights; no using the service to harass; no attempt to breach, disrupt or reverse-engineer it; no automated bulk access.

8. Availability

Provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. We aim for continuous availability but do not promise it.

9. Suspension and termination

You may delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or the law, and where practical we will give notice and a chance to export.

10. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to the paragraphs above, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the service in that period, and (b) £100.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business or anticipated savings.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, nothing in this clause deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

12. Changes and contact
